Most articles still quote figures from 2018 and 2019. These numbers come from the 22 college esports programs that currently publish an amount, each checked against the program's own page.

Two cautions. First, published amounts are usually maximums: "up to $5,000" means some players get less. Second, the 80 programs that don't publish a figure aren't in these numbers, and their awards may be larger or smaller.

How far an esports scholarship goes

A scholarship matters less than what's left to pay. At the median, the largest published award covers 16% of a college's average net price (the yearly cost after grants, from the U.S. Department of Education).

You'd still pay about $3,805 a year. The scholarship covers 57%.

Change either number to try your own aid offer. Net price is an average; yours depends on your family's income and other aid.
