Research notes
Student-run. Longhorn Gaming (founded 2010, a sponsored student org) has run competitive teams. A separate 'Texas Esports' org (Engage start Oct 2024) now calls itself the hub for 20+ teams across 13 titles, but names no titles. Only Valorant is confirmed (Daily Texan, Nov 2024, which says esports remains a club activity without scholarships). Separate Smash, Splatoon and Marvel Rivals clubs exist. The arena (Texas Union, opened Oct 2023) is run by University Unions with a 'varsity room' for competitive teams.
