Research notes
Run under Recreational Sports (esports.recreation.umich.edu). Its 'varsity-level' competitive teams use semester tryouts and are open only to Ann Arbor students. Since 2021 comes from press (Front Office Sports, Apr 2021): a $4M Kotick gift upgraded the rec program, started in 2020, to varsity status. The join page also lists Dota 2 and Splatoon 3 (no codes) and does not say which titles are varsity versus club. BEC membership is from press (MSU and CSMG). The training facility is not named on the page.
