Research notes
Level is ambiguous; listed as club. Purdue Esports runs under Recreation & Wellness: an official site, a lounge with a varsity training room, and 'Purdue Esports players and staff' mentioned on a RecWell camp page. Purdue IT (2025) refers to a 'varsity Rocket League team'. However, no official roster, coach or tryout page was found, and the Purdue Exponent says Esports at Purdue was 'founded in 2020' as a club, so it could be classed as club. Smash comes from MSU's 2024 report that Purdue lost the BEC Smash final. Rocket League is the only title an official source calls varsity. Purdue IT says two Purdue teams qualified for the 2025 Alienware Collegiate Clash finals; whether that was Apex is unclear, so apex is not included. Start year at the current level is unknown. Do not confuse with Purdue Fort Wayne or Purdue Northwest, separate campuses that do have varsity esports.
