Research notes
Classification is ambiguous. It is listed as club because a 2024 campus blog calls esports an 'officially recognized club sport'. However, it has a full-time Esports Director (Evan Haldeman) in Athletics, and its 2025-26 roster is on the athletics site gogusties.com, so it may meet the varsity definition. It began as a student organization (Gustavus.gg) in 2021 and gained club-sport status, a director and a Beck Hall facility in 2023-24. It competes in NACE (Open Plus) and MVEC per 2024-25 match reports. Games are taken from position labels on the 2025-26 roster.
