UNEB 2024 PRELIMINARY REGISTRATION STATUS

UNEB 2024 PRELIMINARY REGISTRATION STATUS –  The grace period for normal registration for the 2024 candidates has ended with a total of (1,302,650) registered for the Four sets of Examinations (4Es).

These include; the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE), Uganda Certificate of Education(UCE) for both the New and Old Curriculum, and the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) Examinations. Compared to last year’s registration of 1,224,371, the candidature has so far increased by 78,279, indicating a percentage increase of 6.0%.

Late registration, for all the levels, is currently going on until end of month. Of the registered candidates, 793,489 are for (PLE), 369,373 are for the UCE Examination for both the new and old Curriculum., and 139,788 for UACE.

These figures exclude data for candidates from the newly accredited Examination Centres who have been given a separate deadline of June 21st, for normal registration.

Transitional Examination based on the old curriculum

As the country transits from the old to the new curriculum, the Board is conducting a one-off Transitional Examination, the (UCE-TE) based on the old curriculum.

The examination will be conducted alongside the others, and gives an opportunity to anyone who qualifies would like to be assessed under the old curriculum. Normal registration for the transitional examination ends on June 21st, 2024.

The transitional examination targets the following categories of people;

a. Those who sat UCE in 2023 or earlier and would like to improve their grades;

b. Those who registered for UCE in 2023 or earlier, but did not sit;

c. Those who failed to register for UCE in 2023. These must have sat PLE in 2018 or earlier;

d. Adult candidates who are 20 years old and above and did not sit for PLE.

These will require special permission from the Executive Director of UNEB. This condition applies to Ugandan citizens only, who must also provide proof of age.

The Board calls upon anyone who falls in the above category and would like to acquire a UCE certificate to register before the deadline. Registration can be done from any of the schools with UNEB examination centres or the accredited Examination Halls countrywide.

The government shall pay the registration fees of leaners who qualify as USE candidates, and will have registered with any of the government aided schools under Universal Secondary Education (USE).
