ABOUT THE BYSHELB LOAN
In 2017, the Bayelsa State Higher Education Students Loan Board (BYSHESLB) was established by an act of law in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly during the tenure of the immediate past governor, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson. This initiative was a landmark step towards ensuring that every Bayelsa student in public higher institutions within Nigeria had access to non-interest loans to finance their tuition and other related expenses. Today, under the leadership and continued support of the current administration led by Senator Douye Diri, the board has become a beacon of hope for thousands of students in the state.
One of the key figures at the helm of this transformative initiative is Dr. Michael Amaegberi, the Executive Secretary of the Board. His leadership and dedication have played a significant role in the success of the scheme, which has funded over 7,000 Bayelsa students’ school fees, amounting to over 2 Billion Naira.
