Compensation Fund (CF) Inbound SMS Capability short Code – The South Africa Department of Employment and Labour’s entity, the Compensation Fund (CF) is thrilled to announce an exciting enhancement to its customer communication strategy: the implementation of an inbound SMS capability. As part of its ongoing commitment to improving customer experience, it is the department’s view that integrating SMS into its contact centre operations will provide numerous benefits for both the CF and its valued customers. To use the SMS services, you simply dial the number: 44967 and follow the prompts

NB: The SMS inbound short code will go live from the 01st April 2024. Inbound SMS allows customers to engage with the CF conveniently and efficiently through text messaging, offering a seamless communication channel alongside its existing channels of contact.

Here are some key benefits of implementing inbound SMS:

  • Enhanced Convenience – Customers may prefer the convenience of text messaging for simple inquiries, appointments, or updates. By offering inbound SMS, the Compensation Fund empowers customers to communicate with it using their preferred method, leading to higher satisfaction and engagement.

  • Follow the same steps that you will follow to send any other SMS: Capture your enquiry and send the SMS to the short code number
  • You will receive and SMS with your ticket number that confirms that you enquiry was received
  • An agent will call the you as a client to gather more information The disclaimer below informs clients that costs will be incurred when using SMS Inbound:

“Dear Customer, please be informed that responding to the Compensation Fund Contact Centre using the SMS will cost you R1.50. Should you wish to access the Compensation Fund services through the website means, please log onto its web self-service portal on www.labour.gov.za.

  • Go to Department Employment and Labour website www. labour.gov.za
  • Click online services
  • Menu options will be displayed
  •  Select: Web Self Service Ticketing Service for Contact Centre.
