CARN ASPIRE Grants for the Congo Basin

The CARN ASPIRE Grant Program provides competitive research grants of up to USD 5,000 for African graduate students and early career professionals working in biodiversity, conservation, and environmental sustainability in the Congo Basin region.

Why the Congo Basin?

The Congo Basin rainforests comprise one of the world’s most important centers of biodiversity. Yet, despite efforts underway to conserve this extraordinary region, habitat loss, forest degradation, deforestation, and threats from climate change are accelerating. Central Africa urgently needs a new generation of environmental and conservation experts to meet these growing challenges and mitigate threats using science-based approaches. ASPIRE small research grants support young Africans to advance their careers by assisting them in carrying out a research project that contributes to better-informed conservation decision-making and more resilient ecosystems.
