VULAMATHUBA EMPUMELELO BURSARY FUND 2024 TVET College Programmes applications is now open for intrested South Africans to apply.

Vulamathuba Empumelelo, the community and social development arm of Communicare Social Enterprise, was established to deliver developmental interventions to Communicare tenants and non-tenants residing within City of Cape Town.

Vulamathuba’s overall objective is to create opportunities for the economic growth of participants by fostering the
principle of Economic Mobility through education, skills, training, and development interventions.

Vulamathuba administers the Vulamathuba Empumelelo Bursary Fund (VEBF). The bursary allows recipients to pursue tertiary education, enhancing their self-reliant and financially mobile capacity.

The principal purpose of the Fund is to give financial aid to Communicare tenants and individuals from previously marginalized communities who have academic potential yet are economically disadvantaged and looking to pursue a qualification that is described as a scarce or critical skill.

We invite individuals who desire to study at a recognised and accredited TVET Colleges to apply for a bursary for the current academic year. Priority is given to individuals accepted to study at public institutions in the City of Cape Town.

We will consider bursary applications up to the Nated level 6 from financially needy learners with or without disabilities, employed or unemployed, and academically performing. Learners who have passed Grade 12 in previous years and students who are already at recognised and accredited TVET colleges are eligible for the bursary. We will consider your
application if you plan full-time or part-time studies toward an academic or artisan qualification in the following fields:

  1. Artisan
  2. Civil Engineering
  3. Clothing Production
  4. Engineering (Excluding Electrical)
  5. Financial Management
  6. Human Resource Management
  7. Information Technology
  8. Legal Secretary
  9. Management Assistant
  10. Occupational Qualifications (Trade test)

INCLUDED:

  • Registration costs
  • Tuition (course fees)
  • Textbooks
  • Examination fees, if applicable

EXCLUDED:

  • Electronic devices and stationery
  • Fees and costs associated with previous study loans or tuition expenses.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

  1. The closing date for applications is TUESDAY, 18 JUNE 2024.
  2. The VEBF’s selection will be final and will not enter any correspondence.
  3. VEBF awards bursaries annually, and renewal is at its discretion.
  4. The annual gross income of the household must not exceed R400 000.00 for a candidate to qualify for this funding.
  5. Successful applicants will be required to sign an agreement with Vulamathuba Empumelelo.
  6.  The recipient will be required to repay the bursary in full should s/he fails to
    provide proof of completion by the start of the new academic period.
  7. VEBF will determine the financial need of candidates using a means test.
  8. The recipient will be required to repay the bursary in full should s/he fail to successfully complete the course of study by the completion date for which the bursary was approved.

The principal objective of the Vulamathuba Empumelelo Bursary Fund (VEBF) is to provide financial aid through a bursary to Communicare tenants and individuals from previously marginalized communities within the City of Cape Town who have academic
potential yet are economically disadvantaged.

The VEBF will determine the amount it allocates for tuition to successful applicants to a maximum of R 40 000.00 for tuition and R5000.00 for prescribed material.

The VEBF will prioritise Communicare tenants in good standing and authorised residents before considering neighbouring community members.

We invite applications from candidates:

  • Between 19 and 50 years of age
  • With or without disabilities
  • Employed or unemployed
  • Wanting to study full-time or part-time
  • Completed Grade 12, and students at accredited higher education institutions.

  3. The closing date for applications is TUESDAY, 18 JUNE 2024. 9. Vulamathuba will notify those applicants provisionally awarded a bursary by MONDAY, 01 JULY 2024.
  4. VEBF awards bursaries annually, and renewal is at its sole discretion. 10. If Vulamathuba has yet to contact you within two months after the closing date, please accept that your application has not been successful.
  5. Successful applicants will be required to sign an agreement with Vulamathuba.
  6. VEBF will only consider correct and complete forms or applications received before the closing date.
  7. VEBF will determine the financial need of candidates using a means test.
  8. This document is not an agreement or commitment.
  9. The VEBF’s selection will be final and will not enter any correspondence. 13. The bursary will be suspended if the recipient is unsuccessful in the course of study by the completion date for which the bursary was approved
  10. The annual gross income of the household must not exceed R400 000.00 for a candidate to qualify for this funding
  11. The bursary will be refunded if the recipient has abandoned the course of study
    or has yet to provide proof of successful study completion by the start of the new academic period.

VULAMATHUBA BURSARY FUND APPLICATION

CHECKLIST
1. Fully completed application form, together with supporting documents listed below.
2. Certified copy, not older than six months of:

• Identity document or Passport of the applicant.

• Affidavit if applicant, parents,guardians, and any adult household members are unemployed
• Permanent Residency Permit or Work Visa details if Non-South African citizen.
• Administration order, Court order, Divorce order, and Maintenance order, if applicable
• Identity document, Passport, or Birth Certificate of a spouse, parents, guardians, and all other household members.
• Proof of residence
• Marriage Certificate if applicable.

• Most recent, three months’ proof of ALL income of the applicant, spouse, parents, guardians, and all other household members.
• Bank statements for three months of applicant, spouse, parents, guardians, and all other household members.
• Proof of application/ registration with the tertiary institution or Letter of admission from the institution
• Death certificate if parent/s are deceased.

• Latest academic results or qualifications of the applicant
• An affidavit explaining circumstances if the applicant is supported by someone not a parent or legal guardian
3. Essay of at least 250 words to motivate your application

Failure to provide all required documents by the closing date will disqualify your application.
