How to setup University of IOWA library Links to Google scholar

How to setup University of IOWA library Links to Google scholar – Know the name of an article but nothing else? Google Scholar is a good place to start! Once you find the article you’re looking for, use the UI Link to access it through University of Iowa databases.
Google Scholar is also useful for finding other articles by the same authors, if they have a profile. Click on a hyperlinked name to see a list of their publications, as well as information on how often that author’s articles are cited and co-authors of their publications.

Google Scholar is a place to search broadly for scholarly literature across all disciplines. Its familiar Google setting makes it fairly easy to use, and it has its uses. It’s a good place to start, but more specific and focused databases exist. (You can explore those databases on the library’s website here and here, or keep poking around this Guide!)

Search Tips

You can use UI Link in Google Scholar! UI Link will help you find full-text PDFs for articles in UI’s databases, or connect you with Inter-Library Loan, so you never have to pay for an article. Here’s how:

1. Click on “Settings” near the top of the page.

2. Select “Library Links” from the left-side menu of the Settings page:

3. Search for the University of Iowa and select it from the list of libraries that comes up. (You can choose up to 5 libraries!)
