GDARDE host workshop On How to become A Gauteng Nguni Cattle Farmer – The Gauteng Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment invited South Africans to a meeting that will make them aware of how to apply to become a Gauteng Nguni cattle farmer.

Today,Gauteng Department of Agriculture, Rural Development Environment (GDARDE),in collaboration with the Agricultural Research Council (ARC), held an insightful workshop at ARC-Animal Production Campus in Irene.

The focus? Introducing a revolutionary hydroponic fodder sprout production system for livestock farmers.

As winter approaches and traditional grazing becomes scarce, ensuring your livestock have adequate nutrition is crucial. This workshop aimed to empower farmers with the knowledge and skills needed to implement an alternative feeding strategy using barley sprouts.

GDARDE NGUNI WORKSHOP

Hydroponic systems, known for their efficiency and sustainability, offer a promising solution to the challenges of winter feeding.

Farmers who attended the workshop learned how to grow barley sprouts hydroponically, providing a nutritious and cost-effective supplement to their livestock’s diet during the dry months.
