Call for Applications – Capacity Strengthening Training on Transitional Justice & Reconciliation and the African Union Transitional Justice Policy (AUTJP)

What: Capacity strengthening training on Transitional Justice and Reconciliation (TJ &R) and the AUTJP for women from national and sub-national civil society organisations in the Horn of Africa Region (focusing solely on Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, and Kenya) and the Great Lakes Region (focusing solely on Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, and Uganda).

Where: Nairobi, Kenya.

When: 21 – 25 October 2024.

Who: Life & Peace Institute (LPI), Center for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation (CSVR), and Institute for Justice and Reconciliation (IJR).

Eligibility criteria

  • Women (including young women between the age of 25-39) candidates from national and sub-national CSOs in the Horn of Africa (focusing solely on Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, and Kenya) and Great Lakes regions (focusing solely on the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Rwanda, and Uganda).

  • African candidates who reside within the African continent.

  • Good understanding of the English language. (Interpretation services will be provided for candidates who require them.)

  • Possesses relevant professional experience in peacebuilding, TJ&R, and dialogue initiatives.

  • Women with disabilities and women from indigenous communities are encouraged to apply.

Application

1. Fill out the application form.

2. Please attach the following documents:

  • Your updated professional Curriculum Vitae (CV), not longer than 3 pages.

  • Information page of your passport or national ID.

Additionally, please prepare and attach your cover letter. In your cover letter, respond to the following questions:

  • Why do you want to participate in this TJ&R and AUTJP training programme?

  • What makes you the ideal candidate for this training programme?

  • What do you hope to learn, and how will it benefit your professional development and institution?

  • How will you contribute to the TJ&R initiatives in your local communities?
